Azan Ahmed

Azan Ahmed is a multi-award-winning actor and writer working across stage and screen.

His second play STATUES premiered at the Bush Theatre, where it won the Outstanding Stage Performance Award and was nominated for Best Stage Production at the Asian Media Awards 2025.

As an actor, Azan co-stars in ITV’s Van Der Valk and has worked with the National Theatre, RSC, Shakespeare’s Globe and BBC Three.

His debut play DAYTIME DEEWANE won the Off-West End Award for Best TYA Writing (2023). Following a successful UK tour, the production transferred to Sydney’s National Theatre of Parramatta, where it was nominated for a Sydney Theatre Award (2025).

Alongside his professional work, Azan has led programmes supporting emerging actor-writers, including the Staging the World programme in Sydney.

At DMA, Azan works with actors to develop both their performance and their original writing — supporting them in building character, voice and material that reflects who they are as artists.
