Exciting New ServiceS at DMA:

DMA Resident Therapist, Annie Jones!

Dear DMA Members,

We are thrilled to announce a new addition to our DMA family. Starting in August 2024, we will have a resident DMA Therapist providing specialist counselling and wellbeing services for actors aged 16+ (Year 11 upwards) and parents who would like the tools to support their young actors.

About Annie: Annie Jones is a passionate and dedicated therapist with a profound understanding of the unique challenges and pressures faced by performers and creatives. With an educational background from Sylvia Young Theatre School and the London School of Musical Theatre, combined with professional training as a therapist, Annie brings a holistic approach to counselling. This blend of mental health expertise and a deep appreciation for creative expression allows her to offer tailored support that addresses both the emotional and professional needs of artists.

As a lifelong lover of the arts and a former performer, Annie empathises deeply with the highs and lows of creative careers. She is committed to empowering artists, helping them navigate their personal and professional challenges to achieve their full creative potential.

Qualifications:

• Fully Qualified Therapeutic Counsellor

• Member of the British Association for Counsellors & Psychotherapists (BACP)

• Level 4 Diploma in Therapeutic Counselling

• Level 3 Certificate in Counselling Skills

• Award in Mental Health Awareness QLS Level 2

• Award in Safeguarding for Counsellors QLS Level 2

Services Offered: As our Resident Therapist, Annie will provide comprehensive support through 1-to-1 therapy online and will visit our Masterclass groups throughout the year. She understands the challenges and pressures performers face, aiming to provide clients with the support and space they need to thrive both on and off the stage/screen.

What to Expect in Individual Counselling Sessions: Tailored specifically for performers and creatives, our counselling sessions are crafted to meet the nuanced needs of individuals in the arts. Within a confidential and safe environment, Annie supports clients as they resolve or heal from past experiences and navigate the intricate challenges inherent to the industry, empowering them to unleash their full potential and thrive.

We are excited to offer this valuable new service and believe Annie’s expertise will be a tremendous asset to our DMA community.

SOCIAL MEDIA AND BRANDING

We are thrilled to announce that DMA will soon be offering a new Social Media And Branding Service for Actors! This service is designed to help our actors enhance their personal brand and effectively navigate the world of social media to boost their careers.

Welcoming Our New Coach, Isobel (Izzy) Steele to DMA!

Dear DMA Family,

We are thrilled to announce a wonderful addition to our DMA team. Please join us in welcoming the incredibly talented Isobel (Izzy) Steele as our new coach!

About Isobel:

An accomplished actor and musician born in Manchester, began her career early after signing with a modelling agency and a boutique acting agency in the Northern Quarter. From 2012 to 2015, she quickly made her mark, landing roles in BBC dramas, series, and a BFI-funded short film.

At just 14, Isobel secured a series regular role on Emmerdale, portraying "Liv" alongside the Dingles. Balancing her professional commitments with school, Isobel excelled and grew as an actor, gaining valuable experience and earning the trust to tackle challenging storylines.

At the end of 2022, Isobel decided to leave Emmerdale, making a grand exit during the show's 50th anniversary stunt week.

Isobel is incredibly excited to join DMA and looks forward to meeting and working with all of our participants. Her wealth of experience and passion for acting will be invaluable to our community.

We are confident that Isobel’s expertise and enthusiasm will greatly benefit our actors, and we can't wait for you to meet her and learn from her experiences.
